Also, in unrelated news, my roommate *zimmay is currently having trouble with blatant art theft. Go check out her journal for more info. After making that journal, other watchers of hers have admitted to using her work for various insubstantial, unimpressive work that can hardly be classified as such. I know it's probably due to her gallery being a lot of fanart in an anime-like style that she attracts these somewhat misguided, mentally underdeveloped and emotionally unrestrained individuals, but just because she draws what she draws in the way that she draws them doesn't mean her work is up for free domain.
That said, I'd like to extend a friendly reminder to all my watchers and other passerby.
DO NOT USE OTHER PEOPLES ARTWORK FOR YOUR OWN.
Do you understand the meaning behind something that says "Do not alter, claim, or reproduce"? That means, (blatant prior statement aside) that the work you are looking at is copyrighted and may not be used by other people. Not for signatures, not for avatars, not for buttons, reprint, roleplay characters, and especially not for reposting and saying that YOU did it. Just because you say you can't draw doesn't give you the right to gank others' work and say "Oh this is my character!"
No. It's not. It's their character. Come up with something fresh. It doesn't matter if you can't draw worth shit-- it's the creativity and the imagination, and the satisfaction that you created something from scratch that matters in the end. Not to mention avoiding really pissing off the artist whose work you stole. And a lot of times, it doesn't matter if you credit the artist-- it's the fact that you didn't ASK first that pisses us off. It's common courtesy.
Do not steal work.
Make your own.
Don't be so jealous of other people that you have to take their work. They work a lot harder than you think they do. They're only good at what they do because they spent years-- probably well over a decade or more-- practicing their trade, whereas you are giving up in the early stages, claiming you'll never hold a candle to them.
Get off your high horse, and stop assuming you don't need to practice like we did.
A lot of artists agonize over their work. That's what makes them artists.
Stop pretending to be an artist, and start BEING an artist.

The fact that no one understands you doesn't make you an artist.

I'm the kinda girl, that when a delicate and controversial situation arises, enjoys shoving her foot into her mouth, and by way of hopping on her second foot, hauls ass.
But how come Cyrus, Ethan and the letter F for Fail get to be sponsors, but not Nale? Was he just busy at the time, or what?
