Discworld city watch dump by Rynnay Discworld city watch dump by Rynnay

There's really no short way to explain the "Where's my cow?" bit, except to say he briefly went crazy, and he's not actually killing a hippo or a cow. It's a scene from "Thud!" and probably the most terrifying Vimes has ever been.

Characters are all Terry Pratchett's, I just gave in and drew them, so go read those Discworld City Watch books.

Okay . . . on the one hand, my little sisters who share my account (one's new to Discworld, one hasn't tried it) will wonder what the HECK Vimes is doing here. But on the other hand this is so BEST at rendering all characters concerned . . . I'm favoriting it. And I'll just tell my new-to-Discworld sister that there's a context to that odd Vimes scene and don't worry he's still a hero.

(*I* haven't actually read Thud! either, but I've heard some details, so.)

My gosh, that's wonderful!  The movement and the ... idk, emotion from Vimes is just wonderful!  So animated.  Very good.

That derpy Vimes in the corner is hilarious ^ ^

"THAT! IS! NOT! MY! COW!!!!!" Possibly the best battle cry ever committed to paper, and one of the funniest-yet-awesomest moments in a world made of them.

Death having a near-Vimes experience was almost as good. "DON'T MIND ME, PLEASE."

'bout time i found someone who did the "is that my cow" thing! :#1:

Your Vimes is just perfect and brilliant and don't get me started on his hilarious derpy angry face at 'I found my cow'. That should be a meme face, up there with Forever Alone and Rage Guy. Oh, and I loved the fact that you included the Summoning Dark on Vimes's arm. And your Vetinari is also quite commendable.

it might be doodles (crappy??!? Oo what the? you don't seriously think that, do you?), but its the best illustration of that scene I've seen so far.
It was scary, one of the most intense seances in the whole book. I didn't laugh. I couldn't. It was all kinds of amazing and terrifying at the same time. yeah it was obscure, but thats just Pratchett's genius I guess.

I love the "Where's My Cow?" sequence. I laughed so hard! That's one of four-year-old's favourite books, and Thud! is one of mine. This is just all kinds of awesome.
Taw66 Featured By Owner Aug 22, 2011
That's brilliant, have you sent it to Sir Terry?
Rynnay Featured By Owner Aug 22, 2011  Professional Digital Artist
Haha thanks! No I never thought to try...! I couldn't possibly send him crappy little doodles, I admire him so much if I wanted to send him anything I would want it to be a nice finished illustration. XD I wouldn't know how to send it to him anyway..!
Taw66 Featured By Owner Aug 24, 2011
Hi, he's got a website and an FB account. I think your 'doodles' are great and I think he would too.

This is AWESOME. This is exactly what I imagined when I first read Thud (which I'm rereading right now).

I remember that! Oh my god, that made me laugh and check all the dark corners of the room at the same time.

Who's the one-armed guy again? I keep thinking it's one of the golems from 'Feet of Clay', but I know that can't be it.

It looked like Reg Shoe to me.

This is awesome! Vimes' crazed story rampage was disturbingly funny, and you captured that perfectly!

Amazing ! Vimes with the axe is very well drawn and terrifying, especially on the third picture with all that blood (very dynamic), and I really love the expression of Angua and the dwarves on the last pannel, especially their eyes.

 Yeah. I read that one. One of my faves.
InleLendri Featured By Owner Jul 8, 2011  Hobbyist General Artist
Oh, I don't know. The whole going-up-the-stairs-to-the-nursery scene earlier in the book is about equally as terrifying, I'd say. I love the way you've portrayed his anger - it really looks like Vimes, even to me who's got a rather different mental image of how he looks. Also - great job on the Partrician - and I adore the expressions on the dwarves.

Hooray hooray it's a wonderful for I have found my cow! XD :3

Hmmm...where did that audiobook go now? I wanna listen to it again.
